David has a broad range of legal skills and a strategic business focus gained over more than a decade at large international legal firms and midsize regional firms in the northeast US; and five years as Associate General Counsel at Casella Waste Systems, Inc.
David has dealt with a wide range of domestic and international transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters. He has provided environmental risk review and permitting advice and zoning and land use counsel; has conducted due diligence and managed environmental investigations; and has negotiated and drafted a broad range of complex contracts. He has also worked on a variety of site remediation and brownfield redevelopment projects.
David has been at the forefront of the renewable energy industry for more than a decade. As Casella's lead counsel for environmental project development, he managed the transactional, permitting, and interconnection components of three landfill-gas-to-energy facilities in New York and Massachusetts, two landfill gas pipeline projects in Delaware and Maine, and a groundbreaking agricultural / commercial anaerobic digester project in Massachusetts. In Vermont he has been involved in the successful permitting of more than two dozen solar projects throughout the state and is an active member of Renewable Energy Vermont’s Policy and Advocacy team. He also counsels landowners and business in negotiating leases and other transactions relating to renewable energy projects.
David resides with his amazing family in Orwell, where he is a Firefighter I and Chairman of the Town of Orwell Volunteer Fire Department. David coaches soccer for the Orwell-Benson Coyotes and is on the Board of the Slate Valley Unified School District.
