The intention of this blog is to offer practical experience on how to approach the topic of death in conversation among family and friends, and to give basic information on supportive services--beginning with hospice--for those who are dying and those who are caring for them.
I have been frustrated for years with the unnecessary suffering I see among families and caregivers and friends because of a lack of planning, knowledge, and conversation. My hope is that this blog will reduce some level of that suffering and ease some of the pain experienced by those who are dying by offering information and support to help plan for what is inevitable.
It's not as much of a downer topic as you might think. Hopefully, the writing style keeps it conversational, even a bit funny at times (see "Creative Celebrations of Life" to see what a couple of free-thinking daughters did with their dad's remains). I do hope you find it informative and helpful.
