Originally from Ohio, Megan LaChance earned her B.A. in English with a minor in Environmental Studies from the College of Wooster (2012) before attending Vermont Law School from which she graduated in 2016 with dual degrees of J.D. and Master of Environmental Law and Policy. While in law school, Megan worked as a student clinician at both the South Royalton Legal Clinic and Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic, as well as participating in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinic and earning a certificate in Dispute Resolution.
Megan is new to the firm, joining Facey Goss and McPhee in the summer of 2025 after serving as the Rutland City Attorney. She also has prior experience working for the Town of Shrewsbury and the Rutland County State’s Attorney’s Office as a Deputy State’s Attorney. Through her professional career, Megan has become thoroughly acquainted with both the Rutland area and the intricacies of municipal government.
Megan and her husband Elijah, whom she met as a fellow student while attending Vermont Law School, reside in Shrewsbury. Passionate about giving back in her local community, Megan serves as the vice president for the board of Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County and is actively involved with both the Women’s Dismas House and Rutland Men’s Dismas House, including serving on the local council for those programs as vice chair from 2022-2024. In 2025, Megan and Elijah were jointly awarded the Mary O. award from Rutland Dismas House in recognition for their support in “beating the drum for Dismas.” In addition to her work with local organizations and non-profits, Megan is an active member of the Champlain Philharmonic as a cellist and also involved in her church community and associated religious organizations.
