Vermont Yankee Sale Approved by the Vermont Public Utility Commission

Posted on Dec 07, 2018

The Vermont Public Utility Commission on December 6, 2018 in Docket 8880, approved the sale of the shuttered Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.  A Memorandum of Understanding entered into by the owner and prospective purchaser, and multiple state agencies and intervenors, including Facey Goss & McPhee client Town of Vernon, served as the basis for the PUC’s approval.  The Town’s objective throughout the proceedings was to provide the most direct path for cleaning up the site, with the end goal being redevelopment of all or part of the site down the road.  FG&M attorneys Dave Carpenter and Dave Cooper provided counsel to the Town Planning and Economic Development Commission throughout these proceedings and are pleased that this approval brings the Town one step closer to achieving its vision.
